The hotel is just a stone's throw from Saint-Roch church, one of the city’s most beautiful churches (the design was inspired by Notre-Dame cathedral). The hotel has seen some of the most thrilling chapters in French history - it even retains bullet marks from the 13th of Vendémiaire insurrection on 5 October 1795, when Napoleon Bonaparte ordered troops to open fire on royalists.
